Daniel Gazdag has signed to new contract with Philadelphia – official

Dániel Gazdag has had one of, if not the best season of his career with Philadelphia Union this fall, as he scored 22 goals and assisted 10 times in the regular season. Then, in the playoff, he reached the final with the team and he finished second after falling behind in the shootout.

The 18-time Hungarian midfielder was named in the MLS Team of the Week multiple times in the previous season and was also a candidate for the MVP award, which he did not get in the end. He missed out on the top scorer title by just one goal...

His team, Philadelphia Union, announced on Wednesday, January 4, that one of the club's most important players, Dániel Gazdag's contract is renewed until 2025, with an additional one-year extension option. Gazdag has even received his club's number 10 jersey.

„Dániel became one of the top two-way players in Major League Soccer as well as a league MVP candidate last season” – said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director, Ernst Tanner on the club's website. „His 22 goals and 10 assists in the regular season show his value to our attack, and his defensive work rate and intelligence were key in helping us build a top defensive unit. He's a great fit for our aggressive style of play and we are excited to reward him with a Designated Player contract that keeps him in Philadelphia for the coming years.”
