Bundesliga's last placed Schalke 04 is getting into a more and more desperate situation, so the management is once again looking for a coach, and Kicker mentions MTK trainer Michael Boris as one of the potential candidates.

Is Schalke looking for a temporary solution until the end of the season or planning to appoint a new head coach in the long term? – Kicker asked this rhetorical question in the Sunday article when mentioned four possible candidates to succeed Christian Gross who was sacked after the 5-1 defeat by Stuttgart.

The top two candidates are Steffen Baumgart, who is in contract with second-tier Paderborn, and Dimitrios Grammozis who is working at Darmstadt. However, it cannot be entirely ruled out that the management of the professionally troubled club of Gelsenkirchen will choose a different solution.

That's when Michael Boris comes in! According to Kicker, the German coach, who has been managing MTK since the summer of 2019 and made the team back to the topflight last season, has an exit clause that could immediately make him transferable if activated. We got in touch with MTK regarding the news: in response to Nemzeti Sport Online's question, the club denied that there was such a clause in the coach's contract.

As far as we know it, the Hungarian League (NB I) expert's name has indeed been mentioned at the German club as a candidate, but there has been no official contact regarding Boris' signing. Boris worked with Schalke's reserve team between the 2010 and 2011 season as their head coach.

The fourth candidate is the club's former player, Mike Büskens who represented Schalke for more than 250 times in the Bundesliga. He could take over the senior team together with U19 team trainer Norbert Elgert, but the pair's contract would most likely last until the end of the season only.

66-year-old Gross, who left after one victory, two draws and eight losses, was Schalke's fourth coach this season after David Wagner, Manuel Baum and Huub Stevens.

With 11 rounds to go, The Royal Blues are eight points behind their next opponent on the table, Mainz which employs Ádám Szalai, and are nine points behind 16th placed Arminia Bielefeld and 15th placed Hertha.
