Gábor Lucza, the Hungarian representative of the footballer's management agency World in Motion, traveled with Aïssa Laïdouni to Berlin on Thursday and was there with the player when he signed the contract.

"It was after the World Cup that things really started to heat up around Aïssa Laïdouni," Gábor Lucza recalled. “In hindsight, I can tell you that four of the five top leagues contacted me, and three made firm offers. In the end, two of them were really great, and Union Berlin wanted the player more than Espanyol. The Berlin club negotiated at length with Fradi, was persistent, and eventually, the two sides found a deal that suited both of them. The Bundesliga was Aïssa's big dream, he liked the whole club and the team. Here in Berlin, they smiled and said, don't ask how they can finish second in the league, and he signed for a team that was fighting for a Champions League qualification, if not for the title. He was introduced to his new teammates on Friday, and although he is yet to play against Hertha this weekend, he could make his debut for Union in the midweek cup match next week. Aïssa speaks highly of Ferencváros, he made great progress at the club, where he admits he has become a truly professional footballer. He will always be grateful to Ferencváros! On Thursday, he said goodbye in tears at Népliget, but he couldn't say no to an opportunity like this."
